Exemestane belongs to the aromatase inhibitors of the 3rd generation and, like all other aromatase inhibitors, it has been developed for the treatment of estrogen-induced breast cancer in women.
In contrast to older aromatase inhibitors, exemestan docks firmly on the aromatase enzyme and can permanently deactivate this. This compound can also be dissolved again, as a result of which the aromatase enzyme becomes active again.
In bodybuilding, exemestane finds its application to suppress the side effects of anabolic and androgenic steroids. The steroids which aromatize by anabolic abuse are bound by the active substance exemestan to the majority.
Aromasin contains a very efficient aromatase inhibitor with exemestane. The activity of the aromatase enzyme is suppressed by up to 98%, which means a reduction of the estrogen level by up to 85%. In comparison, the estrogen reduction in aromatase inhibitors such as anastrozole or letrozole is almost 80%. For this reason, exemestan is the most esteemed aromatase inhibitor among bodybuilders.
In this context, it should be noted that estrogen also has a certain anabolic effect and a marked reduction in estrogen levels by the use of aromatase inhibitors such as exemestane during the use of anabolic androgenic steroids can result in reduced increases in muscle mass.
Dosage. In bodybuilding the half a tablet (12,5mg exemestan) is used daily, or every 2 days a tablet (25mg exemestan). In the final phase of a competition preparation, some bodybuilders take 25mg of exemestane daily.
It is best to eat after a high-fat meal, as the bioavailability can be increased by up to 40%. If stable blood levels are reached during the administration of exemestan, the manufacturer will report about a week.
